Today was the last day of school for KateLynn & Levi. I sure am going to miss this year because I know this was my last year of sanity before it gets real hectic. I'm sure you're thinking, 'This year seemed pretty hectic...' and you'd be correct. However, next year I will have three kids in school. Not to mention the fact that one will be a 6th grader (last year in elementary school) and I'll have a kindergardener, so I will be flooded with '1st' & 'last' activities from both ends! Of course, I still have Levi's 3rd year on top of all of that....shew I feel tired already just thinking of it. =)
OK, enough of that, back to this year...I saw this adorable chalkboard made completely out of chocolate that I wanted to make for the teachers. You can't beat chocolate! So here is what we have:
I started with the 6 pack of Hershey bars (but I only used 3 of them.) Flip them over & line them up side by side...

I very gently smoothed the 2 "seems" together so it looked like one candy bar. Then, sprinkled with powdered sugar...

Smear the powder sugar with a paper towel over the chocolate

It looks like a used chalkboard now...

Melt white candy melts or white chocolate, put in a ziploc bag & squeeze chocolate into a straw. Put the straw in the freezer for 5-10 min. Then, use a skewer to push the chocolate out (this will be the 'chalk')...

I squeezed some of the chocolate on a ziploc bag while it was still warm to make some school shapes...

I used the melted chocolate to attach the shapes to the chocolate bar...

I did something different here. Originally, they used the "chalk" pieces to write the message on the candy bar, but mine kept breaking & melting, so I just piped on my message with the chocolate...

Then, I attached my "chalk" with more melted chocolate...

I put the bars in a gift bag. I wanted it to gather at the top with the ribbon, but the bars were too wide. So I stapled the opening to make it the bottom & used the original bottom to tie the ribbon on...

After I bagged KateLynn's, I decided to add some food coloring to Levi's. I wish I would have thought of that for KateLynn's...

Thanks for such an amazing year! I'm so glad Levi had a male teacher. It was the best thing for him...

KateLynn's teacher was so sweet and great too...

I didn't do anything for KateLynn's class for the end of the year, because I had already done so much for them throughout the year. However, I hadn't done anything for Levi's class, so I focused the last 2 days on his....
Pizza Party!
I brought my checkered table clothes to give it that pizzeria feel. Simple but the kids liked it...

The kids went through 10 pizzas, what a bunch of piglets...

The room moms put together a blank scrapbook page of pictures for each student to sign & decorate. Mr. K is moving this year so we are really going to miss him!
