The Job Charts I made for KateLynn & Levi are working really well. They are laminated so they can use a dry erase marker to check off what chores they've done. They receive a "chip" for every chore they do. They also lose chips for bad behavior and not listening. Once they get a certain amount of chips they can trade them in to pick from the "Treasure Basket." The basket has toys, candy, money, coupons for time on the computer and such. The kids really like it and it's teaching them to "save" for larger items. Each item "cost" different amounts of chips. For example, there was a Spiderman Laptop game in the basket and Levi really wanted it. Well, it took 35 chips to get it. It took him about 2 weeks to get it, but sure enough he earned it! The house is looking a lot better...

You must have just started that, b/c when I came and saw you your house was a wreck...j/k. I had to show some love. Your house wasn't bad.
I love that you have bigger items for them to work up to. What a genius idea! If only my kids learned that while they were small! I'm in agony over some of the decisions that Frankie is making. He blows money as soon as he gets it. I wish he learned the principle of saving for something worthwhile. I have failed him as a parent.
Good job, Mary. Keep it up. Don't let the temptation of lazy parenting get to you. Stick to your guns. I love your job chart idea.
